A Casual Weekend

The sun has come back!!!  It has been all rain and wind since I got back from England after Easter, which for anyone who knows me will know that I rather like that.  However other people have been wishing for the suns return and have had their wish granted.  It did make for a beautiful weekend....but being the classic English Rose that I am, I burnt within 10 minutes of being out in the 'glorious' sun.  Yay!  At least I don't look like a vampire any more.

Last weekend was a rather chilled out affair.  A weekend that you could defiantly apply the saying 'just go with the flow'.  Firstly my weekend started early as I wasn't needed to look after any kids on Friday.  After a little sleep in, Chelsea and I just hung out all afternoon.  the laziness didn't stop there though, oh no!  Friday ended very nicely with a film and pizza at Chelsea's with Alison too.

On Saturday morning Chelsea, Alison, Lucy and together for a wonder around Geneva.  We had planned on doing a tour of the U.N. (the United Nations) first.  However that went out the widow when we missed the tour time because we couldn't find the visitor entrance.  So that will be done another time hopefully, but plenty of time will be left free to get there so we don't sweat buckets again!  Here are a couple of photos though.

The three legged chair...........

The statue of the chair was put up outside the U.N. to create awareness for mine victims.

The United Nations flags of glory......

Instead we hoped back on the tram to go explore the flee market in the center on Geneva.  I have told you about this place before because I went there a few months ago with Caitlin and Laura.  It is a treasure trove....although you have no idea what the treasure actually is worth!

My favorite photo from the day...........

We did all do a bit of rummaging in the 'vintage' cloths piles at the market.  I may have bought a couple of things to play around with a needle and thread.

This is for Adam..........

After a wounder around the market we went back to Carouge, which is where Lucy lives (we parked at her house).  It is officially the 'nice side of Geneva', apparently even posters say that about this town.  I have to agree, the town is what I would say a 'Swiss' town looks like, beautiful!  The delicious ice cream we had as we walked back to Lucy's defiantly brightened my view anyway.

Carouge................................

The girls walking away with their market goods......

I love the coloured house's and shutters......

Chelsea and Alison had other plans for the rest of the day, but seeing as I had none I hung out with Lucy.  We went in search for an English Library that had a book sale on.  The thought of books in English had me very excited so it had to be done!  On our way there we drove around the Lac Leman, failing to find anywhere to park so we could soak up the sun as we walked by the lake.

A drive by tour...............

The fountain............................

Giving up on a little walk we found the library and a very convenient space to park for free right on it's door step (which in the city Geneva is a miracle!).  I did purchase myself a couple of books, adding to the massive pile I have with me already....I can hear my mum groaning now and trying to fit everything in the car when I go home.

Lucy and I continued our little escape to the land on the English in Switzerland by walking across the road to eat at 'the Clubhouse', where everything is in English, for the tastiest burger ever!

Fully satisfied...............

Finally a photo of a Swiss Police car.......

Why the photo above?  Because it the neon orange makes it look like a toy car!  That's why!  Ahha!

Back to our chilled out day...We were full, had wondered the streets of Geneva, made a few purchases (or at least I had) and were ready to soak up a bit more sun.  So we went back to Lucy's and dozed a little with a good book in her garden by the pool (yes, I said pool....can't wait to take a dip in that on another hot day in Swiss!).

Think I slept more that read........

The amazing house that Lucy gets to live in.......

I planned to hang out with Lucy for the evening while she was on babysitting duty, and then she was going to take me home once the parents had got back.  We watched a couple of films and the kids were put to bed one by one, however by 2am we were ready for bed to.  With no appearance from the parents, I ended up being lent a toothbrush and t-shirt so I could stay the night (there was no complaining from me....the guest bed is sooooo comfy!).

Sunday brought the sun out again.......

Lucy took me home after we had both had a goooooood long sleep.  I planned to get a few letters and postcards written when I got back, but first I had a nice Sunday lunch with my host family and their friends in the sun, which was HOT!  That's when I got burnt, even though I was the only adult there to be wearing the kids sunscreen.  The remainder of the day was me just chilling out.

Hakuna Matata my friends!
