A tin of cookies

Last week me and Clottilde got baking!!  Cooking in other people's kitchens doesn't ever feel quite right.  It's no wonder that chefs are shouting at their staff all the time.  I would be too if a load of randoms came into my kitchen and started cooking things wrong and making a mess.  Anyway, Aurelie got some food that I requested so I could cook and bake.  Me and Clottilde ended up making a shed load of sugar cookies.  I have preceded to eat ALL the cookies throughout the week though...oops!  Feels good to be cooking again.  A side message to Helen (my sister in-law) I made my bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with spring onions and cream cheese (herb version, yes I upgraded from the dairy lea triangles!).  I gave them back some faith in the English nations ability to cook!

It was General Conference this weekend!  I was pretty much loving it!  I picked up Caitlin and Liz, they directed me as I am useless to Geneva chapel.  We went to a little YSA much and mingle before the afternoon session of conference first, where I drank about 5 glasses of water because the sun was beating down on me!  However when we went inside to get seats I was presented with a variety of choices to place myself.

 I don't think so........

I would cry if I were made to go in there.........

Woohoo...........

Front row seats for the righteous (almost).........

After Conference at the chapel it was back to mine with the girls for a conference session our way.  We got cosy in our pj's, sat on the bed, chatted and ate pasta and cookies while watching the evening session.

Yummy yummy for our tummy's........

Caitlin sampling the Oreo cookie cookies.....

According to Liz this is a Mormon's version of a pint, I think I have to agree......

Pull your face..............

My conference weekend lasted till Tuesday.  I decided I might as well watch all the sessions, but had slooooooow internet, plus I was loving it anyway.  Can't wait for another dose in 6 months!  I the mean time institute starts this week.  I'm hoping to make it there with Caitlin tomorrow night.  I've been given the all clear to go, just lacing a car right now.

I had free time for a change after class on Monday so me and Liz took a little drive in her car.  We were aiming for the shopping center, but got bit lost.  We ended up stopping in a beautiful village to do some exploring!

Welcome to the town of Thoiry.......

Found myself.........

Another monument in another town and I still haven't found out the full story behind them.....

The views here are pretty cool it has to be said (again).......

I am hoping to fully explore Geneva soon, and visit Mont Blanc if I can.  For know though I will settle for my little wanderings around local places.  I have a killer sore through going on right now though!  How that can happen in this heat is beyond my understanding, tomorrow I shall be wearing a scarf no matter what the weather is!  I am going to settle down with some warm milk and honey now...yes I do feel 5, but it's oh so gooood!

Tell you about some more adventures soon!

Village walks......again!

I know I know!  I have already talked about two little walks that I've taken through the village, the sun shinning, flowers blooming yatta yatta yatta.  They have to be mentioned though!  This area really is beautiful, and it never fails to impress me every time I take a stroll.  It's likely I'll talk about many more as the season change, so get used to it!  This time the stroll was with all the kids and Aurelie on a nut gathering expedition...not that successful I might add.  To not bore you to much I'll just share some photos though.

This really really (sorry...zoom sucks) murky photo shows a glider setting off the top of the mountain, as we left the house, just above the clouds.  I really want to do that!.....

Another gorgeous evening.........

The berry bushes in all their colourful glory.........

The cow horse..........

The highest houses on the mountain, with the best view...........

I will continually admire this mans garden!  If I were to live here permanently (not happening by the way!) I would want to live here........

They even have a chicken barn across the road surrounded by an orchard.........

I can't believe so many beautiful flowers are still blooming in October.......

Love flowers, they smell amazing and make me haaaaaaapy.......

Possibly my favorite photo of the day.........

A beehive would make my dream complete............

I really am obsessing about all the orchards out here!  No matter how small your garden may be, there is an orchard filling it splendidly.........

When we got back to the street that we live on, the neighbors kids were outside drawing with chalk on the pavement (old school, just how I like it).  After about 10 minutes everyone's kids seemed to be out there...........

After class, last Thursday, Myself with Caitlin and the other LDS girl, Elisabeth got to hang out with a bunch of fellow Au pairs.  We explored the one cloths shop in Ferney Voltaire and then got Pizza in the park, with about 10 other Au Pairs from the area that we knew about through a Facebook group.  People just randomly announce meet up points for stuff in this Facebook group, so there's usually something going on all the time.  To be honest though, me, Caitlin and Liz were chatting amongst ourselves most of the time though.  Everyone already knew each other it seemed and were in there little groups, plus we just lost in our own conversation! We ended up going of to McDee's to get ice cream after a while.

Caitlin, Elisabeth and me.......

Imitating Voltaire?  Risky thing to do in this town........

We ogled the cheese through the a window as h shop was closed....

On the way to McDees's there was a surprisingly hilarious motorcycle skid and fall in the middle of he road right in front of Caitlin's car.  The guy looked more embarrassed than anything at having fallen off his bike in public. Hahaha......

It's conference tomorrow and I am picking up the girls to go to Geneva chapel for a session.  Then they are coming back to mine to watch another session in P.J's while we eat Oreo cookie cookies!! YUM!  Which remindes me that I have now ticked off No.46 'make the best Oreo cookie's' from my '....before I'm 30 list'.  Even though I have made this same amazing recipe a bunch of times, my cookie's never look like the picture of the ones on the recipe.  So I'm saying this batch are the best thus far!

It's a little surprise in side.......

Should be doing some more exciting stuff next week.  Going into Geneva perhaps and maybe a day out somewhere on Saturday.  But there are always the French lessons to get me out of the house!

Need some shut eye!
